THE WEDNESDAY EVENING POST FOR JANUARY 2, 2013

Hey All!

Well this is the first official Wednesday Evening Post for 2013.  Happy New Year everyone!  Anybody make any resolutions???  I made the same one this year that I did last year. . .I resolved not to make any resolutions this year!  It worked for me last year so why not stick with it huh?

I am going to try to try some different things this year with my cardmaking that I normally wouldn't do.  Which leads us to our example for this post. . .take a look:
BEFORE THE STACK IS OPENED
AFTER STACK IS OPENED

I always look at what the Wednesday Tutorial is on Splitcoast Stampers each week.  I always say to myself "Hmmm, that looks interesting. . .I think I'll try that this week."  But like almost every week I say that, I don't try it.  Well I did this week.  The card is called a "Flip Down Stack Card", and I love cards that move.  You can find the tutorial HERE.  Mark from DEADBEAT DESIGNS sent me the whole set of his new bird stamps for Christmas (Thank you so much, Mark!).  You can see his samples HERE.  I had originally thought I would use them for a note card set, but when I saw the SCS tutorial I knew they would be perfect.  The card measures 9 1/4 X 4 and fits into a standard #10 business envelope.  The birds were colored with watercolor pencils.

I did manage one note card:
Mark even sent me the matching background stamp.  I thought the bright colors on the bird really popped on the black and white background.

I also wanted to show you how Mark addressed the package to me:
Is this not unbelievable????  The O'Brien is in his own handwriting with glitter!!!  Have you known anyone who addresses a package to make it look like art?  Mark, you are so creative!

I'm working on some other cards using some wonderful stamps that my other fabulous blogging buddy Chris from Mudmaven Designs sent me.  Those will be highlighted next week!

As a lot of you heard, we here in central Indiana had a blizzard the day after Christmas.  I thought I would share a couple of pics from that storm:
FRONT OF OUR HOUSE
BACK YARD/POOL
Looks like we have our own skating pond doesn't it?  LOL  We had about 10" here when all was done.  Pretty huh?

Pic of the Week
SWEET GUM TREE IN OUR FRONT YARD AFTER BLIZZARD
OK, that's it for this edition.  Thanks so much for stopping by and visiting with me.  I'm on my way to return the pleasure and can't wait to see what you've all been up to.  I hope you all had a safe New Year's Eve and that this new year brings you a ton of great things.

Hugs!

Curt

Wonderful card. SCS has some really cool things to make.
Aren't our blogging buddies 'THE BEST'?
Your yard is gorgeous with all the snow. It might be a pain but snow is still beautiful and gives us great pictures.
Looking forward to seeing
what stamps Mudmaven sent you and what you do with them.

Wow, those bird cards are wonderful! Mark was a good friend to send all this to you and your right, the packaging is so beautiful too. Love your snow pictures, it looks so beautiful, when you don't have to shovel it, or drive in it!! Our Pup loves it, just runs and sticks her nose down in it, so cute. Happy New Year, Curt. Best wishes for a happy healthy 2013.

Love that stack card Curt, I saw this over at SCS, and I do the same thing, see things and say I am going to try it out but rarely do.
Those birds are just adorable, love the colors you used on them.
And NO, I have never seen such a beautiful package, that is just awesome.

Looks like you received a lot of cool new goodies for Christmas and are having a great time putting them to good use. Me too ... I can hardly wait to use my new .... lawnmower. Ya, I know, I need to get a life!!

Love the flip down stack card, especially the tiny black and white background. Guess I will go visit Mark's website. Looks like his creativity has no limits and that's always a good thing.

Hope you had your snowblower tuned up in the fall 'cause you certainly needed it with the snow that you just got. Remember how exciting a big snowfall used to be when we were kids? Now it just makes me think ... come on Spring ... so I can use my lawnmower!!!!

Your cards are lovely also. I love how you stacked the images on the first one.

Happy Stamping!

Wonderful & beautiful card Curt! I also that tutorial but have not given it a try yet...I always say that & rarely give it a try but maybe this year I'll give them a try. Love your pictures & the fresh snow always looks so pretty. We only got 4 inches when the storm hit us here, we were lucky. Happy New Year to both you & Jay! Hugs!

I saw that same tutorial and I love what you did with it. Those little birds are adorable, the bright colors are perfect, and how sweet of Mark to send them to you in that gorgeous package! Thanks for the snow photos, too. That's how I like to see snow - anywhere but here :-)

Wow amazing card! Love the stack one. I will have to give that a try.
That box is amazing. I ma in a group that swap mail art at Your Paper Pantry. It is so much fun and amazing to see what everyone comes up with.
What do the boys think of the snow? It is so pretty but so much work. We got 13 inches before Christmas. It was even too much for the snow blower to handle. It took us hours to clean up and there is still more we could do but it got to cold.
Have a wonderful week and Happy New Year to you and yours?
Hugs,
Linda

Hi Curt! What a cool card - and what beautiful stamps! I loved your birthday card also - the coloring is so happy against the black and white theme. Mark is truly an artist! I had a package come decorated like that once (From Anna Wight) and I kept the package (I still have it!). I just couldn't bear to let it go - so it sits in my studio inspiring me to make the package nice. Hugs!!

Wow....love your pic of the week! We got 6" the first go-round, and a bit of frozen stuff the next go-round, but it's nearly gone, and it was not as pretty as yours! Love your cards, Curt - it's always fun to see what you've been up to. I want to try that SCS tutorial too - what fun! Marks stamps are so much fun, and I love these new birds! They are whimsical, and look like fun to color. Love the way he addressed your box! That was really and truly 'Happy Mail'!!! Have a good weekend, dear friend!

I visit your site when Mark mentions it on his blog and I kick myself for not doing it more often. First of all I love schnauzers. Your cards are beautiful and the pic of the sweet gum tree is card worthy itself. How is Jay?

I'm still cleaning off the roof!
Might be done tomorrow!
Lovely package too!
I've been fiddling in the craft room, usually after dark!

Better go, gotta go to town!

I love any cards with birds and your flip down card is great. In Ohio we got 5 inches of snow on the Wednesday and another 5 inches on Saturday. Looks pretty but I'm dreaming of spring!!!!

Love the house in the snow - now if we can just get that in a snowglobe.....
Mark's packaging was amazing! Wonder if he (or anybody else) is that creative with Christmas and birthday gift wrapping?? Have you ever used your card designs on anything like gift wrap?

I saw the tutorial on SCS and thought - hmmm...maybe someday when I have nothing else to do LOL. But wow you really blew it out of the sky (no pun intended), love the birds and what a fun card to receive. Your pics are beautiful - so peaceful and serene - we had about 8 in. and living in the woods you realize Gods beautiful work. My daughter lives in South Bend - and moans and groans about all the "lake effect" snow - so I don't visit between Oct and May. Bet the boys loves the snow too. Always anxious to see what you post each week and this week was tops.

Curt, I would like to wish you all the best for 2013, may it be the best year yet. Thanks for popping in, not sure where this week has gone. Hope it's not a sign of thing to come. Love your first card, and I have just downloaded the instructions today..I think it is really cute. I could do with some of that snow. We have had temps the last 3 days of 30 - 32 deg. C and tomorrow much the same. A bit of a reprieve on Saturday...Wheww can't handle this.
Take care Curt.

What fun cards and cool new stamps Curt! Your snowy yard looks so pretty! (as long as you don't have to go shovel it, right???!!) We've hardly had any snow in MA so far - a pretty dusting on Christmas and maybe 4 inches last week that is almost all melted already - temps in the 40's this week - blah....!

Such lovely photography, Curt, to hold memories of a tough storm dropping moisture all across the Rock Mountains western and eastern fronts and into the mid west then on over to the Apilatian Mountains. We continue to have white from this storm on the ground. Chinook winds blew the past day and a half. Indian word for snow eater. Have temps warmed enough to melt wonderful moisture into your yard?
Curt, thanks for sharing all those great shots captured because a camera was within reach for each just right view.
Speaking of view, what about Mark's bird/ tweet! some box addy, too! Fun to see a well done pastel rainbow effect.
