THE WEDNESDAY EVENING POST FOR OCTOBER 9, 2013

Hey All!

Welcome back to another edition of the Wednesday Evening Post!

I wanted to start by telling you that I celebrated a milestone this week. . .On October 4th, I celebrated 1 year since my heart attack!  Can you believe it has already been a year????  I had an ultrasound done on my heart on September 28th and a cardiologist appointment on October 3rd.  He said everything looked great and my heart was 20% stronger than right after the heart attack.  I had even lost more weight (total 38 pounds) and the ultrasound showed nothing abnormal.  I just wanted to share the good news with you all!

Here are my cards this week.  And can you believe it???  No Fall or Halloween!!!  GASP!

My best friend's birthday was last week, and I made this for him.  I really like these treat box cards.  This one is stuffed with Hershey's toffee nuggets.  This is a House Mouse image which I colored with my colored pencils and oms.  Here is the pic with the tag pulled out:
The paper looks like cake frosting with sprinkles.  I fashioned the candle and then attached it with a dimensional.  I wrote my message on the back of it.

My next card you will need sunglasses for!:
I was so thrilled this week.  Melanie Muenchinger (a stamp designer from Stamp TV) sent me 3 sets of her stamps.  She had noticed on my profile that I was a caregiver for Jay and she said that touched her heart and she wanted to send me some "happy mail".  So I used one of the sets she sent to make this thank you card for her.  This flower comes from her set "A Year of Flowers 2".  She is so talented!  I Stamped the floral images in Versamark ink, then embossed them with white embossing powder.  I created the background by covering the card stock with Mustard Seed Distress ink, then stamping it off twice to achiever a very light image.  I then colored the petals of the main flowers with my water brush and Spiced Marmalade Distress ink to achieve the various shading levels.  I cut the stems from green card stock.  Thanks so much for your kindness Melanie. . .it was so appreciated!!

Last card:
I did this card for my sister who loves that insurance commercial where the camel wanders through the office asking everyone what day it is. . .What's even funnier about the commercial is that the camel actually uses my sister's name (Julie) and her ex-husbands name right after (Mike).  I must have been drinking when I made this because I'm noticing in the picture that stuff is kind of crooked!  Dang!  Oh well, it was just for laughs anyway.  The image is a digital from Doodle Pantry.

Pic of the Week

That's all I've got. . .Hope you are all doing well and enjoying this gorgeous Fall weather we've been having.  I'll be seeing you on your blogs this week!

Hugs,

Curt

So happy you got great news about your heart! Just love the "sunglasses" flower card. Thanks for telling what colors of Distress Ink you used. You do a good job with them and I have many that I'd like to use better, so copying Curt on this one is looking like a distinct possibility. What a neat thing for Melanie to do for you. Caregiving is an intense labor of love. Your camel is cute, too. nise

Are you sure you feel okay? Lol! That Melanie is a sweet lady! And always doing something nice for others! Great photo...so pretty! Love when the leaves are changing! Happy Hump Day!

Curt, great news you had from the MD. Just keep it up. Love your cards especially the 'bright' one. I so love using my distress inks, so maybe with your blessing, I am going to make a Curt 'look alike' Also love your photo..we don't get to see much of colours like that here in the autumn and I do love to see the foliage change to these beautiful shades. Have a great week, hugs, Ursula

First of all, congrats on the good news, I bet that makes you give a big sigh of relief!! How nice of Melanie to send you those stamps, and a nice idea to create her a thank you with them!! Cute birthday card with those little mousers (hope they didn't eat the nuggets before the arrived)!! That crazy camel cracks me up...I used to do craft shows and made a silly Christmas camel , wish I knew if I had still had the pattern I could make you one to give her for Christmas. Have a great day!!

Congrats on the clean bill of health for your old ticker. It's nothing to mess with and you obviously know that so keep doing what you're doing ... it's working.

And on that note, I almost fell over when I saw that you had no Halloween to post. See how much better your health is when there is none of that "H" stuff in your life?!

That birthday card/treat box is just too sweet. You and your house 'mouses' did a great job. (I'm drooling over the thought of toffee nugget chocolate - don't think we have them up here.) Guess I will add them to my shopping list when I come to vacation with you!

Melanie is a very talented designer and you have done her proud with your creation. Nice to see something good happen to someone deserving.

Now, the camel ... the card says it all. You have one crazy ass sense of humour and that's one of the many things I love about you Curt.

Wow, it's been a year. I'm so happy that you are doing so well. Your card creations are lovely. How generous of Melanie to send you that terrific stamp set. You did a bang up job with all your inking.

You are so right, time sure does fly by. I'm so happy for your healthy good news. I wish I could be so lucky but my leaking aorta valve has now been diagnosed as "moderate" from "mild". I guess it could have been worse if I wasn't doing all this walking with my furbabies, but who knows. I don't want to stop and it would just crush them if I had to quit.

Enough boo hoo me, I loved all your creations you shared with us this week. Your best of pic slideshow is so awesome too!

Hugs,
Gina

Hi Curt - GREAT NEWS about your health - way to go dude!!!! I love all of your cards this week, but the flower one and the camel just knocked my socks off. Great job. Still on a blogging hiatus, but getting closer. Still in rebuild and repair mode at work from the flooding and it really makes me cranky!
