THE WEDNESDAY EVENING POST FOR MAY 22, 2013

Hey All!

How the heck are ya?  I'm glad you are here and safe.  I have to say how heartbroken I am for those of you in Oklahoma.  I could not believe my eyes as I watched the coverage of that horrible tornado in Moore.  The complete devastation is more than I can imagine.  Thank God more were not killed.  I know this sounds kind of silly, but I kept thinking that if that happened to my house, I couldn't imagine trying to replace my craft room stuff!  I also thought, with all the paper I have, at least the wreckage would be prettier than most!

Update on my situation. . .I have been diagnosed with "Frozen Shoulder".  Not in one but in both shoulders.  The good news is that once I recover, I can never have it again.  The bad news is that it will take about a year for it to go away.  And because I have diabetes and a heart condition, I can not have the drugs usually used to ease it.  So that means I have to "man up" and just deal with it.  Not a pleasant perspective for me.  I have one pain medication that I can take, but it doesn't do that much and the side effect of nausea is almost worse than the pain.

Because of the above, I only made one card this week. . .
This is a Mo Manning image called "The Big Guy Grilling".  I colored him with my colored pencils and oms.  This is such a perfect image for Summer.  I know it is still Spring, but Summer is just around the corner.  I can say for sure that I won't miss these Spring storms.

I do have 3 pics of the week to share:

PIC OF THE WEEK

This little guy was found making himself at home in my newly opened pool!  I happened to look out of the breakfast room window and saw a black thing floating on top and then suddenly shoot to the bottom.  So I got the skimmer pole and fished him out.  Isn't he beautiful?  His markings were so amazing and that fiery red color just stood out so brightly in the sun.  He had his head pulled back so far in that shell, I think he will have a stiff neck for a week!  LOL  I, of course, released him and sent him on his way after the photo shoot.

OK, that's it for this post.  Thanks once again for coming by to check on me.  I hope you are all OK and doing well.  Stay safe from this Spring storms.  I'll be by to check on you soon!

Hugs,

Curt

Curt, I wish you the easiest time possible with your shoulders. Yuck!
The card is so sweet. You had me at the gingham!

We just saw turtles for the first time in years last week! SO beautiful!

I am sorry you are in pain, but at least there is a diagnosis and you can work with that. Just take it as easy as you can. Will swimming help ease the pain at all? I love your card - I will have to check out those designs. That turtle is beautiful, I've never seen one that pretty!

Ouch. So sorry to hear of your frozen shoulderS. You poor guy, seems you just go from one issue to another, and yet another! You are always 'manning up' in my humble opinion! Love the card - great job! The turtle is beautiful! Jealous of the pool. Totally not pretty seeing me so green! lol... Enjoy it, dear friend - it should be helpful for your shoulders too! Have a great week - hugs...

What a great pic of the week!! I love those little turtles.
Oh I wish I was there in the pool with the pups.
I think the BBQ guy is cool.
Now that they figured out what the shoulder is doing you will be able to deal with it a bit better. The not knowing, I think, is usually the hard part.

OMG, a year! That's too long to be in pain! Surely in this day and age with all the technology we have, there must be something you can do to ease the pain.....the wonders of medicine! Your card is so nice. I have that image and love it for the Grill Kings in our family....Pups look so great by the pool....and that turtle, pretty fancy turtle, love the bright red. Wishing you and yours better days and less pain....

Hugs

How did the turtle get in the pool?? I don't know, but I never knew a turtle could have such beautiful red markings - amazing!! But between frogs at the door and turtles in the pool - sounds like a horror movie in the making!! I'm waiting for a card in the mail - - is it the barbeque man?? I'll be over this weekend for the real cookout. Laughter is the best medicine, so you should get plenty of pain relief when I'm at your house! Hope all your friends have a great Memorial Day weekend!!!!

Wow-that is a colorful turtle...good thing you found it before the doggles! I love this Mo image...sure wish it would get warm enough to BBQ-it is freezing here with possible snow in the mountains around me...weird!

Gail said...

Oh for Pete's sake!
Man up; seriously!?
Can you use a topical pain killer?
Or as my gf would say "might as well shove it up your @$$!"?
The turtle's so neat, must have needed the swim!
Can't you keep it? PLEASE!
The boys look like they're enjoying the pool.
The card is astonishing!
Feel better soon!
Sending HUGS!

Hi Curt,
Wow, TWO frozen shoulders. That's a double dose of "cold shoulder" if you ask me! But, you've never given anyone a cold shoulder that I can tell! Joking aside, it's a bummer that you are so limited in the treatment options. I'll say a prayer that you find ways to get relief - whether it be relaxation, warm sun or even a tall glass of wine!

Your card is so cute - the image made me laugh - such a silly guy!

I love the photos of your turtle - he was quite camera shy, huh! Well, beautiful anyway. It's a thrill for me when I find "nature" in unexpected places (or even in expected places - I just love most of the critters around me). Have a wonderful weekend! Hi to Jay and the boys!
Hugs!!

Only you would see the beauty of beautiful papers scattered amidst the ruins. What a lovely image for such a terrible thing to happen but what a lovely vision of pretty papers everywhere! TWO frozen shoulders. I was given 4 shots directly into the area...about fly off the table and kicked the doc in his private...not meaning too...I just wasn't expecting the pain. I was not given pain meds, but had a great PT....How were you able to do even one delightful summer card? How are you even able to funtion...you are defintiely man-ing up already with two bad shoulders. Love the new refreshing pool scene with the boys! Already summer here...peaches and strawberries are both coming in with upper 80's each day. I always get too long on your post...you always have so much news...haha

cute summer image...great for Fathers day or an invite to a Bar be Que...
sorry you are being limited in your card making... but just take your time ...

oh that turtle...I used to have them as pets... now I just love to look from a distance... lol

off to get this busy week end moving... have a good one hugs to all

Oh my, frozen shoulder. Seems to me my Mom had that along time ago. They did surgery and alot of physical therapy and hasn't had a problem sense. That grill man is a great image for a man. The dogs look SO happy in the pool too, in July I wouldn't mind joining them!

On the hubby front, he had is MRI and is now making appointments with different doctors to see who he wants to do his back surgery, unfortunately. Bad thing is because of his back condition, he faces having more as the years go by. So I just put a smile on my face and my nurse hat and go with the flow! :)

Oh my, Curt, would the biofreeze spray help you? It is sold online besides at my chiroprator's office. Speeking of a chiropractor, would that help? Love the boys in the pool! And that turtle is so cute too, but the boys are the best!

Hugs!

Yes, a most to-be-thankful-for bit of news. You will mark off the days as you exercise and use medicated rub cremes with lots of prayer. Dogs know how to retrieve! How about walk/ massage on shoulder blades? Those warm pads and strong legs could be a real help. BBQ would flame out here the last couple of days, but your card is one hot ready to mail greeting for this upcoming weekend. Eyecatching spring colors! After the flood two summers ago, seeing a box turtle is a rare thing in these parts. They may migrate back into the area as more rains come to slow the continuing drought since flood months. Blessings on all OKC area folks, friends twenty miles from okc have yet to call, assume their lines or towers are down. TV coverage showed one wreckage of mostly pink....colorful girl's room?!! Yes, it is like a papertrail. Thankful for all your safe Memorial weekend yard and garden card idea moments. Keep Looking UP! mt23stamperatyaho

Hi Curt, so sorry to read about your shoulder. I have a bone spur and arthritist in my shoulder. When I lift my elbow out my arm feels numb but It doesn't wake me up and that would be really bad. I am not a happy camper without sleep.
Sorry I haven't been visiting. I am emptying out my MIL house for the past 3 weeks. It is four stories and ton of stuff. Next week is the sale and I will be so happy to be done. It is really cutting into my computer time. I took the day off today. I took my MIL to St Vinnies today. She love to go there. She is 93 and lives with us now. I really enjoy her company. Have a wonderful weekend.

Love the new header of the boys in the pool! So sorry to hear you are having health problems of another kind! Hope you find a great way to deal with it. Don't know if a hot tub would help for short periods of time or not. Need to look around for some "manly" stamps as I have so many guys in my family. Take care of yourself and hope the rest of the family are doing well. Hugs, Jan

Man it is hell to get old isn't it?? But, really I feel for you..have some issues myself, but I HATE pain, so I know somewhat of what you are going thru...lets just hope it goes away fast!! I agree with the OK feelings...and feel so lucky to have what we do, seems we take all for granite until something like this wakes us up!! Very clever card...perfect to send to a man, I bought a new stamp for my hubby's birthday (which is NEXT May), but a girl has to be prepared, right!!! But it is a buzzard and I thought it so fitting for him...nuff said..hah!! Take care, cool pics of the boys on the blog heading...and is that a painted turtle??

Sorry to hear about your shoulders Curt, but do take it easy. Now that you have summer relax, enjoy, recover and hopefully by the winter you will be able to do some more crafting. Just keep us posted with your lovely photos. What a colourful turtle. hugs, Ursula

Hi Curt, so sorry to hear about your shoulder and the fact that you are restricted with what drugs you can take for it. In these situations we just have to bite the bullet and rest rest rest even though the craft room is calling -so frustrating for you. Do hope at least you can find some good pain relief,
Love that little turtle - I have never seen one so pretty! Guess the red means danger to his enemies!!
Take care, hugs!
