THE WEDNESDAY EVENING POST FOR FEBRUARY 6, 2013

Hey All!

Gosh it's good to see you!  I'm sorry I wasn't here last week, but I was busy looking for my mojo. . .I found something for this week, but I'm not sure I've found all of it.  So if you happen to see it, could you send it back to me please?  Thanks!

Can you believe Valentines Day is a week from tomorrow???  Usually I say something about time flying, but not in this case. . .Valentines Day means being that much closer to Spring!  I don't know what it is about this winter, but I've just about had it and can't wait for it to be warmer. . .I must really be getting older huh?  LOL  On to what I have to share with you tonight. . .

I don't particularly like Valentines Day. . .I hated it when I was a kid and I'm not fond of it now.  But, I will send a few cards for the occasion, so here are a few. . .
I used one of the bird stamps from DEADBEAT DESIGNS to make this one.  I really like Mark's birds because they are so versatile.  Mark has had examples where they are holding something in their little beaks (including a heart) so I got the idea for him to hold a heart which I cut out from DP.  I used an Exacto knife to make a slit to slide the heat in.  I used plain ole' Bic markers to color the bird in Valentine colors.  Quick and easy!
Here is another version using the same idea but with the little bird giving the heart to a little friend. . . awwwwwww.  I added Stickles to their little spots for some sparkle.
And finally, this one.  This is made using a Hampton Arts stamp set.  I stamped the hearts inside each of the domes then Stickled them to death.  But it gives it lots of sparkle for such a simple card.  I wanted to keep them all fairly simple because I can't do much more missing my mojo like I am. . .humpf

Pic of the Week
How cute is this little one????  He was all fluffed up and sitting on the courtyard fence looking into my window.  So I ran and got my camera and fortunately he was still there.  I shot this through the glass of the window so it is not as clear as I like my photos to be.  BTW, does anyone know what kind of bird this is????  I just think he is beautiful and I've not seen one before.  Looks like a cross between a blue bird and a robin.

OK, that's it for this post.  I've been having problems with blogger too. . .My videos aren't showing up for some reason.  Hope it is something they did and not me.

Thanks for coming to see me.  Hope you enjoyed your stay because I always enjoy you stopping by.  I'll see you soon on your blogs to see what you've been up to sometime this weekend!

Hugs to everyone!

Curt

You have made some pretty cute cards here.
I share your feelings about Valentines day but, like you, I have made a few. (just to get rid of the scraps lol )
Your little bird is so pretty. Sorry can't help with what he is. We have one here that has a pink head where yours is blue.

Hi Curt! Love all of these cuties. The sentiments are really nice too - where are they from? Love the fonts. I don't know what that bird is, but it is sure sweet. Hang in there - spring is coming - I promise! We've had unusually warm and dry weather this winter and I fear spring will bring more wildfires so I have mixed feelings. All the best to Jay and hug those darling boys for me. ~chris

Such adorable bird images! :) You have a great balance in each of them. :) Goes well with the cute bird photo. Happy V-Day, buddy! :)

I'm not a huge fan of Valentine's Day, either, and I don't do but a few cards. This year I may only do one. I love your cards, those birds are adorable and could be used for lots of other occasions. The boys are so cute in their bandanas and holding that rose!

I'm glad you're back, even if you don't have all your mojo!
I think Myrna has it, cause she's been posting like a house afire!
Your cards are cute!
So is the bird, whatever it is!

Your cards, to me, look like you have your mojo. The little bird cards are adorable :). I wish I knew the name of your beautiful blue headed feather friend, he was hoping you would invite him in! Hope all is well and until next week, hope you have a great one.

Love the birds, and I am a huge sucker for a cake dome, for some weird reason.
I think that's a bluebird. Maybe he looks different because of the winter puffiness? Heck, I get puffy in the winter too!

ursula Uphof said...

Curt not bad with only half your mojo...Love the little birds and the puffy one is so cute. I don't do valentines either, except for some DT cards, that will suffice to give out. Hope spring arrives soon, here we can feel the early morning freshness that spells the soon to be autumn, which I love. We have had excessive heat and humiduty the last month, which can be so draining.
Take care and look forward to seeing you back soon with your mojo. hugs, Ursula

First let me say, I just love the blog photo of your babies.. They are just to cute. Love the heart shaped balloons on the side too. For some one who does not like Valentines day, the blog sure is dressed up :).

I am in love with those little birds of yours, beautiful clean and simple cards.

Great shot of that bird, have no idea what it is though :).

Have a fabulously creative week.

They are calling for a major snow storm here in RI Friday.

Hi Curt, I think my mojo has followed yours though yours has returned!! What cute cards. I don't make Valentine cards but enjoy looking at them!
Such a cute little bird too. You must be fed up with all the cold over there. We have just been through the most rain and wind I have ever encountered in my life! Thirty inches plus of rain [the rain gauge flowed over one night LOL. We have very little damage but our nearest city had record floods and now they are cleaning up. Floods on the east coast, fires inland - that is Australia! Hugs!

I am sitting here with my backyard bird feeder book in my lap...your bird is a male bluebird...they like to eat Suet, bread or baked goods (my kind of bird), peanuts, raisins, berries, etc....what a great picture!! I LOVE the new blog header...it made me laugh right out!! Your Valentine cards are great...maybe you will get your mojo back after the 14th is over..lol...Now, I love Valentines Day, it's my favorite, as its a great excuse to eat chocolate, doesn't require much of me (love that) and I can get those red cinnamon jelly hearts..but I am with you on where the heck is Spring...I am so ready for it!!! See ya later!!

Well, you can be certain that your mojo didn't come here unless it's disguised as something else....either that or yours and mine went away together on a southern vacation!

Your cards are cute and no matter what the occasion, it's still nice to send a card.

My first thought was a bluebird too but I've not seen any in the winter. I've had enough of winter too and we are expecting an Alberta clipper (major snowstorm) here again this weekend. It wouldn't be so bad if our snow blower wasn't broken!!!

Hi Curt, Loved the bird cards for Valentine's Day. I believe you have an Eastern Bluebird visiting you already. Lucky you! It's a bit early for them to be this far north, but maybe they, too, are anxious for spring. Take care.

Erin Morley said...

I'm pretty sure your feathered friend is an Eastern Bluebird. I have seen one once on my back fence here in Ontario (they don't over winter here). You need some sunshine to get your mojo back, I think we all do! Big snowstorm hitting us tonight, time to hunker in with a good book. Warm hugs!

Gina Wrona said...

Cute cards and new blog layout background, but I don't know what kind of bird that is either.

Mark said...

Nice job on the birds! And sorry to hear about your mojo. Maybe I need to make a stamp of a headstone with 'R.I.P. ~ My Mojo.'

Love the cards, especially the ones stamped from Hampton Arts. What a cute idea! Your pic of the blue bird is very nice. I don't see any distortion from the window! Have a great week. Hey, if ya find my mojo, please send it back to Central NY on the storm that's coming in tomorrow!

Well, sir...for someone who doesn't like Valentine's Day, your blog is the prettiest, most festive that I've seen! And those boys look so sweet! I think that your bird is a boy-bluebird, but not sure. Don't know why the boy birds are always prettier than the girls! Cardinals are that way too. As for your MoJo, it has undoubtedly found mine, and they are out together someplace warm, sipping marguerita's and plotting against us! Your cards are wonderful! I need to follow Mark again so I can keep up with his new stuff. At some point Blogger disappeared some of my blogs, and his is one of them. LOVE those bird cards, especially the second one! The HA card is vibrant and just a perfect greeting! Thanks for sharing, and have a super weekend!

Cute cards! I live in South Louisiana just south of New Orleans, so I'm not looking forward to warmer weather that means 95+ for us. But I do love Spring! Have a great week!

Jello there , great CAS cards clean libes are so refreshing in the "overdone" look of today

Curt I changed my perception of Valentines Day a long time ago after reading about St Valentine I was lost
So my choice id this is THE day that I not only tell the people I love that I love them, but how much and why
So many levels of love , none should be left not acknowledged...
Just a way to remember Life is way to short~ use every chance we are given to share : )

with that you share ever so great : )

that little fuzzy bird is adorable hmmm I wonder if it could be a cross??? a google thought for later lol

the boys look well, give then a sweet rub behind the ear, say hello to Jay and enjoy today

hugs

Curt, what a bird! blue and robin! Now, that egg must have been blue speckled! Just the most precious pose and gaze to capture....remember it on your wishin' for warmth days.
Yes, cards with high flight possibilities have Valentine uplifting messages well captured. Let's send some mojo, too!
Keep Looking UP!

Adorable cards, Curt! The little bird images are so sweet. I love a great clean and simple card, and you do them so well! And speaking of birds, what an adorable little blue bird! Hopefully spring will hit Indiana soon, and the little sweetie will receive a respite from the winter! Have a great week!

Love the Boys dressed in their Valentine finery.
Love the cards. Super stamps and layouts.
The little bird looks like (and is, I'm sure) 'the bluebird of happiness'. Yep, sure it's a bluebird.
My Mother (you know Mothers!) always said seeing a bluebird meant happiness and love.
Although he does look abit grouchy - he should be in the Carolinas right now.

I think it's a bluebird.
blue jays are bigger and have the big beak and feathers on head like cardinals. Very good photo thru the window.

Love your cards.

Well for someone who has lost not only their mojo and is not a big fan of Valentine's day; I'd say you did an awesome job with the cards. Personally; I love Valentine's Day. Just this weekend, I made valentine cards with my 3 granddaughters and we had a blast! Every time I go to their house now, my 27 mos. old granddaughter says, "Make cards?" She loves making cards and so do the 5 yr. old and 7 yr. old. Great shot of the Eastern blue bird. I'm wishing for spring too. We are expecting a major snow storm here in Toronto ON - from 6 - 10 inches when all is said and done. Glad my son lives with us to help his Dad shovel us out.

I am so impressed you made cards! My Mojo has been on a Caribbean cruise or something ,haven't seen it for weeks. There is tumbleweeds blowing around my craft cave!
Happy Valentines to you and the boys and big hugs sweetie

I do just one Valentine card and that is for my hubby. We have been together from being 16 I am almost 65 that is a LONG time. Love your cards Curt as always. Hugs from Jersey U.K.

Love your bird Valentine cards - so much fun to color - and the hearts are perfect. How clever using the domes with hearts - great idea. The bird I think it is a Missouri bluebird - in fact that is our state bird and I think he got lost and went to IN. We have bluebird houses scattered in our woods behind the house and get several families every year. Love the boys all tricked out for Happy Hearts Day, what awesome dogs they are.

Hi Curt,

I LOVE your cards - In fact, I'm going to try to reproduce them - they are THAT cute! As for your feelings about the Ha!!mark holiday - I understand. I had a yoga instructor tell me something profound a few years ago that changed my mind - I can't say it as well as she did so I'll e-mail you her newsletter article. Basically - for your other friends who might see this note, she reminds us that there are many types of love - not just romantic love. Once I thought of V-day as a day to celebrate all types of love, it became special for me. So, my dear friend, with love ...
Hugs!

OH my goodness I be everyone has told you he is a blue bird. I have a picture of 4 in my birdbath on my deck. It is heated. They are so beautiful and they eat bugs. I really don't know why they are hanging around this winter but I am so tickled. They were out there in the rain and Ice today.
I love your cards You did a great job for someone who doesn't like Valentine's Day.
I really love the new picture of the boys at the top of the page. They are so handsome!
