THE WEDNESDAY EVENING POST FOR JUNE 15, 2011

Hey All!

I know you all have been worried about me and I so appreciate it.  This has been one hell of a couple of weeks, but I've survived, albeit a little worse for wear.  Jay is back home and I have been working on transitioning from his patient advocate while he was in the hospital and rehab, back to his home caregiver.  Now it is an endless parade of physical therapists, nurses, etc. until he is back 100%.  Thank you so much to those of you who sent cards and emails of well wishes.  You don't know what they meant to us. . .

This post is all about thank yous.  My neighbors have been true angels through all of this.  One had me over for a cookout, one painted my mailbox post, one brought me one of the best roast pork dinners I've ever eaten, one brought me a House Mouse stamp, one brought Jay and me some special diabetic cookies, etc. etc. etc. . . I truly am blessed with people who care.  So many thank you cards are needed so I thought I would share a few.

I will always have a special love for the House Mouse line of stamps.  The images are so perfect for so many card needs.  This one is going to the nice lady who painted my mailbox post.  As always, I colored it with my cheap colored pencils and oms.  If you are wondering why she painted my mailbox post. . .we live in a neighborhood where things are supposed to be uniform such as the color of our mailbox posts.  Ours was looking ratty, but I was planning to paint it when I paint the house this Summer.  She had bought the "correct" paint and had a bunch left over after painting hers so she did mine.  It was so appreciated.  So I thought this mouse painting was perfect.

Here is another thank you card that is going out.  I saw a card on SCS a while back that had used hounds tooth paper as the background.  I loved the look so I re-created it on mine.  The card is simple, but I think a black and white color scheme makes cards look so elegant.  I used a white gel pen to put the dots around the scalloped edge so it would stand out more.  I created the double bow with my trusty old Bow Easy.  Stamped thank you on a small tag, added a black eyelet for a ribbon to attach it to the bow and done.  The bird stamp is by Anna Griffin.

This turned out a little brighter in the photo than it is in real life.  For some reason that yellow is screaming in the photo.  I saw a technique on YouTube where you use an image and just keep stamping it in different colors to make the background, then you use the same image in normal color as the focal image.  The butterfly stamp is by Stampendous.

I'm sorry my cards tonight are pretty simple, but I haven't had much time or energy to get upstairs and create.  Though simple, they were made from genuine gratitude, and I hope the recipients know that.

PIC OF THE WEEK

I took this photo of the waterlilies this past weekend.  The lake that they are on is just covered with them.  They are stunning this year.  I think the waterlily is one of the most perfect flowers.

OK, that's it.  Other than to say I would like to thank you all in some way for all of your kindness and support while I went through this latest episode with Jay.  It was so nice to know that you all were thinking of me.  So I'm going to have a really fun BLOG CANDY GIVE-AWAY in the next couple of weeks, and I think you will really like what I'm going to give away.  Stay tuned.

I've certainly missed each and every one of you. I'm starting my blog reading journey tomorrow and I'll be around to catch up on all you've been doing while I was taking care of things here.  Can't wait to see what you've been up to!

Hugs to all of you!  Thank you so much for your support and your kind and wonderful comments!

Best,

Curt O'Brien

Curt,

HUGS!!! You're right - I've been worried about you and Jay. I've been keeping you both close in my prayers and knowing that you would feel the love. I realize that home doesn't mean the work is over - sounds like there's a lot more to do! But, I'm so glad Jay is home.

Your cards are wonderful! I love the mouse painting the flower - it is absolutely perfect for the neighbor who painted your mailbox. Don't you wish every person could experience what it's like to live with neighbors who are so kind to each other? I believe if we only knew what we're missing (some of us) then it would change everything.

Love to you both.

You know, as grumpy as people can be, it seems that in a time of need, suddenly they all pull together for good. It always amazes me to see the generosity and love of folks during difficult times. I'm so glad that you have Jay back home. I hope that you will soon find some time to get into your man cave and inky up some stamps. Your cards are beautiful. Love the house mouse, what cuties they are. The black and white is so classy, and goodness, that last card is totally stunning! What you did there is a piece of art! Take care, my dear friend! Hope that Jay recovers from this terrible ordeal, and I'm so grateful that you are surrounded by a wonderful support system of friends, neighbors, and family. Hugs and blessings!

Oh Curt! I was overjoyed to see that you are back. I do hope that things get easier for you and Jay. I am glad to hear that the two of you are well cared for by your neighbors (I am sure that you also take care of them when you can). Your cards are delightful, as is your featured photo. Be sure to take some time for yourself, too, because you can't help Jay if you are worn out. Hugs. Sue from Kansas

It's so wonderful to have you back with us, Curt. You're an awesome guy and kindness repays kindness. You shouldn't be shocked that others treated you with compassion. :) Praying that you both stay safe and strong.

I look at the waterlily and think, "God sure knows how His symmetry!" :)

Your cards, as always, are wonderful. I love the butterfly card and have to remember to try that technique! :)

Curst your cards are lovely. Sinple is often the best, and I am sure your friends will love them. Pleased that things are starting to look up now that Jay is home, and will get "betterer and betterer" as my little grandson used to say. You take care as well and look after yourself too. Warm wishes. Love those water lillies, we had some in our garden this summer, but nothing as spectacular as your photo.

Hi Curt. I found your blog around the time that Jay entered the hospital and have been lurking around since then, keeping tabs on how you're both doing. I've been antsy the last while, wondering what's up. It's wonderful to hear that he's on the mend and back home again. I'm also very pleased to hear that you have such terrific neighbours.

Oh, Curt, I am so happy to hear Jay is well enough, at least, to be home. I'm sure it's keeping you plenty busy though and we all understand your doing what you have to do.

I am sooo sorry though I've been so tied up myself lately to drop in more frequently to offer support. I do have a beautiful card you send me still but I must have disposed of the envie with your address because I would love to send Jay a card. If you can email me your address again to audreyfrel@sbcglobal.net I'd love to let Jay know your blog-family extends care and concern towards him also.

I hope you're holding up well and don't get so overwhelmed yourself!

Hugs, my friend; and it there's anything I can do to bring a bit of ease and comfort...

Curt, great to see you online. Been looking for your posting hoping that you had some time between hospital journeys. (I am so aware of doc time, meds, pharm trips, three hours with Alzheimer suffering dad this morning.) Time for the caregiver / advocate is a must, I am told. Glad you have been blest with nearby and snail mail added to your email for some moments of less stress/ more thankfulness/ joy for the journey. You have been a great teacher of time for others to all of us in blogland, Curt. Thanks for h'bone and painter mouse treats; they are so quality. Have to tell Char in WA state of painter mouse. She loves to pop over for a peek at your mouse work as she, too, loves House Mouse! Had to get used to that name from her scattering it about at every fantastic card she heat embossed and painted/ oms pencil colored! You two are quite the match for detail and simply beauty! Blesings on the split-seconds of your days. mt23stamperatyahoo
Keep Looking UP!

It's so very hard to have to stand by and see our loved ones sick and suffering. Long hours at the hospital, then bringing them home and trying to get them back to good health. It's a long road and we all must do it, so thinking of you and keeping you in our prayers. Good that you are surrounded by love and kindness. So glad you are finding some time for yourself...cards are all wonderful and will be so appreciated. Keep strong.......

Hugs
