THE WEDNESDAY EVENING POST FOR APRIL 27, 2011

Hey All!

I'm just going to come out and say it. . .There's not going to be a post this week.  I really need a breather, and I haven't had the mind or the inspiration to create.  I have thought all week about getting up there and creating, but when it came right down to it, I just didn't have the desire.  I've been taking care of Jay and his Mom quite a bit last week, and I've also been doing "Spring cleaning" projects that have just tuckered me out.  Today is a prime example. . .I went into my walk-in closet this morning, looked up at all the boxes that were sitting up on the shelves.  I went to the garage, got the ladder and pulled each and every one of them down and went through them.  I now have about 100 pounds of very old paperwork in bags and boxes that need to be taken for shredding. . .I went through paperwork that dated back to 1991.  I'm also starting to get rid of "junk" that has been in closets since we had the house built 10 years ago.  It's time for a garage sale!  So I'm just tired and a little sick of the constant rain and storms we have had over the last two weeks.  My grass is so long that I told Jay I was going to find some huge cutouts of buffalo and set them out in the yard for a wild prairie display!  LOL

OK, sorry for all the text.  Just wanted you to know I'm taking the week off and will be back with a post next Wednesday.  Now I can truly catch up on all of your blogs.  I can also spend a little time on my guilty pleasure playing some games on Pogo.  Are any of you members of Pogo?

Hope you are all well!  I'll see you on your blogs!

Best,

Curt O'Brien

Everyone needs a break now and again. I totally understand the need to get rid of the clutter. I'm afraid to start, since I am in a "throwing stuff out" kind of mood these days. We might not have anything left! Enjoy your break, take care of yourself and come back when you are refreshed and ready.

Take care my friend and guess what? when you come back we will all still be here.
Hugs to you, the boys, and Jay.

glad it's not just me! studies have shown that down time and focusing on something completely different actually improves productivity and creativity. at least i think i read that somewhere. i might have just made that up.

Happy that you are giving yourself a break! I, too, am so tired of rain, lightning, tornado's, the works. Makes it hard to get motivated! Hope that you get all the cleaning done that you want to, and that you also get some rest. Take care of you, my friend! Hugs to you and all of the boys!!!

Hi Curt! We all need a bit of down time every so often....Sounds as though you've been more than a little busy. I find if I have a bit of a clear out it clears my head and I sit down with a fresh creative approach!
I know what you mean about the weather being a bummer too it's hardly stopped raining for days here in Sydney.....good for the garden but not a lot else!!!!
Take care.

Everyone gets a "vacation" only this sounds like a working vacation for you!!! I did the same in my craft room on Tuesday - was so nice to get rid of a few things I don't use. Then this am I did a closet in a spare bedroom and took it to our local animal shelter that has a resell shop. Was nice to find an extra shelf in the closet. Looking forward to your post next.

Always good to have a break every once in awhile! I have no clue what Pogo is either? I must live in the same cave as Sue from Oregon! LOL! Have a great rest of the week and I hope the weather gets better too cause I am sooooooooo sick of the storms and rain!!! Oh yes, and funny idea about the cutouts in the yard! LOL!

My friend, I'd rather have you take as long a breather as you need and create beautiful works of art, rather than you feel "forced" to create mediocre items. :) Take time for you. We'll be back here.

Yes, I used to play Pogo once upon a time... but after a while couldn't justify the membership. :)

Take care of you and Jay!

Hi Curt, You most certainly sound as if you need a good break so take all the time you need to get re energised. You do have an extremely busy life with all that you do so like everyone, you do deserve some time off.
I have never heard of Pogo but then I live in Australia and it may not be known here.
Take care Curt, look forward to seeing more creations from you when you feel inspired again.

Curt, I know exactly where you are coming from. I do want to make some cards, have the time but just can't get the motivation to actually sit down and do it.
Have a good rest this week.

Honey, every one needs a break now and then. With the Spring some where in the horizon, there will be lawns to cut, hedges to trim, gardens to plant and trees to trim. After I/we do all that, then it is time to go to work. :)
You have a wonderful week.

Enjoy your down time!
I am looking forward to be done with work soon, once the school year is done so am I and I can't wait!
We need the rain to stop. Our grass is so wet and soggy it is not even funny, I have Toads at my front door because it is so wet they are looking for someplace dry to stay. No in my house...Please!

On a sad note, Please say a little pray for my sweet Guinness, he is headed into surgery today to have something removed from his tummy. I have no Idea what it is, you can see it on the xray. So this could explain why he has been so sick since we go him.
Hugs, Heide

Hi Curt, Sounds like you need a trip or a vacation kinda break, but I am sure that is not happening with all your responsibilities. You always make cards for your neighbors to cheer them up. I would love to make you a card to cheer you up. I would need your address if you have away to get it to me I would love to send you some cheer.
I hope you are having fun at Pogo. I don't know what that is Sorry.
Take it easy my friend.

I completely understand about taking a break - we all need them now and again! Now if I could only get my butt in gear and do some Spring Cleaning!

I don't play Pogo, but now I'll have to look into it. I'm hooked on Midas Mahjong on Facebook & King.com.

Have a great week - I look forward to seeing your beautiful creations next week!

I can just imagine the buffalo cut-outs on your lawn - you made me SMILE! From someone who has all-but-abandoned her blog; take your time. We all have varying priorities from time to time.

Don't feel bad, I am going through the same thing. The cleaning has to be done along with getting rid of stuff. See ya soon my friend!

Step away from the stamping table and take a break. You will feel so much more creative after your time off. I'm sending you some of my Florida sunshine to cheer you up and hope that your weather clears up soon.

Ann Schach said...

Ah, Curt! Take the time off...you deserve it! And when you come back your creativity will be rejuvenated and your closets will be clean!

That is exactally what I have been doing and what a great feeling getting rid of stuff!! I have taken boxes and boxes of household and personal stuff to the SPCA fundraiser sales. They are thrilled beyond belief. I gave my mom three boxes of my scraps. She said it felt like Christmas arrived early. My bags of clothes will be going to the Cancer and Diabetes bins for resale. It has been so freeing for me to do this and also to know that Organizations are getting helped at the same time. Sometimes Curt we just need to take that break or we start to no longer enjoy our passion for stamping. Have a wonderful week!!
ps, we may be getting a sister for Bella. Maggie is a 3 year old Golden Lab. I think we will be introducing the two on the weekend.
HUGS

It's just that time of year dear! Spring cleaning of mind, body and spirit .... go for it! We all need to take a break and just breathe and live for a bit. Tackle what you can and just know that you'll get to all the rest eventually. You'll come out on the other side refreshed and ready to rumble!!!! ~chris

Hi Curt,
It's imperative that you get R&R when you are a caretaker. Believe me, I know from my own personal experience. Cards are ou joy and stress reliever, but even they need to be set aside once in awhile. You go right ahead and rest and do some silly stuff that makes you happy. We will all still be here waiting for you.
Hugs, Erica

I'd be more inclined to get real GOATS to EAT the grass! Time away from anything that becomes overwhelming, is time well needed and spent. With so much on your plate right now, something has to give and sometimes we don't always have a choice as to what it is.

I will keep a watch out for buffalo cut-outs and let you know if I find any really GOOD ones!

Hugs to all, especially those fur children!

Funny how when you think your alone in your feelings, you take the time to stop by to chat with a friend or read a blog and find you are not really alone.

I have been feeling exactly the same way for weeks now. I was on this amazing creative roll and as quickly as it came :poof: it was gone. I would sit in my room with supplies in front of me and stare at blank papers or canvas for hours. Nothing came to mind. I knew it was just not going to happen.

Spring has finally arrived and like you, I have decided to purge each and every closet and hopefully in the next few months move to a smaller place that doesn't require so much of my time.

It really sounds like you needed a breather both physically and spiritually. Remember to sit back and take some time for yourself...give your brain and body time to rest and rejuvenate. Looking forward to having you back and seeing your creations.

Hey there honey. Here it is on Wednesday and I am just getting here from last week so I TOTALLY know how you feel. As a matter of fact before I came here and I was trying to make my way through all my blogs I was thinking I wish everyone did what Curt did and only updated once a week....... I just do not seem to find the time lately to get to every post and I feel so bad ..... I am glad you are taking a breather ..... it is well deserved!!! I am on a breather all the time it seems!!

Hope you are well

Enjoy your break, we all need them from time to time. I have been doing the same type of spring cleaning projects around my house and it is feeling pretty good to get rid of so much "junk" that never gets used any more.

OMGoodness I have to comment first on your photography as it is totally awesome. Love the way you named each one. Terrific work. I'll also compliment you on your cards and how creative you were in making your own button out of the wine cork. Was that before or after you had a glass??? Pat
