Hey All!

No normal post for today. . .Reason?  I'm having a major dental procedure done today.  At 2:40 this afternoon I will be having all of my upper teeth removed and 4 bottom wisdom teeth as well in anticipation of a full upper denture.  I have wanted this procedure done for years, and now the time has come.  After taking care of other people, it is time to take care of me.  My father's side of the family (whom I take after) was cursed with bad teeth.  My father had dentures by age 46.  I've just gotten so tired of not smiling, not wanting to go to functions, etc. because of my failing teeth.  For years I've endured painful procedures (i.e. root canals, crowns, extractions, etc.) to no avail.  I've always been terrified by dentists because of some horrible experiences as a kid, so going this afternoon, is almost like driving myself to a nightmare.  The other thing that will be tough to deal with is having no upper teeth until the first week of January!  OMG I can't imagine that, but hopefully the final outcome will be well worth it.

So please think about me today and tonight (I have a feeling that tonight is going to be a rough one).  Send out positive thoughts that I get through this rough part and that today goes well!

Thanks everyone!  I appreciate your positive energy!

Hugs,

Curt

I wish you the best and hope they give you some good pain meds :-) My teeth are not all that great either, so I will probably have to endure the same thing one day. I'm sure you will be fine and you will enjoy your new smile!

I'm sure you will be so glad that you finally got it taken care of. I have a terrible fear of dentists too, but when I broke my front teeth a couple of years ago I had to overcome that and I am so glad that I did. Still don't much like going, but at least it doesn't disable me to just think about it! Hang in there. DH has had dentures since he was in his twenties and is now going through getting them replaced (3rd time is a charm right?) It's tedious, but worth it! I'll be sending good thoughts your way. All the best to Jay and hugz to those darlings and a huge big hug for you too! Be brave! ~chris

Oh dear Curt! We love you no matter what! But I know first-hand that crummy teeth are a daily grind ( pun not intended) and actually can understand your choice. At some point you just need the pain to stop!! Hugs, dear friend. Think ice cream, slushies eaten with a spoon . . . That kind of stuff.

Prayers for you too for strength, courage, and comfort.

Thinking of you! I hate it too, had so many dental procedures done over the years it just makes me cringe. One of my teeth is breaking up and causing a lot of pain, but have I gone yet? Hopefully I'll buck up soon. Looking forward to seeing you smile more!

Curt, there had to be some massive reason my DH sent me home to sleep prone tonight instead of staying at my dad's on the couch while this life readjusts and ours stand by him 24 / 7.....it was to pray for you! All night between sleep fits and starts as the bod resumes prone sleeping for one more night. Blessings on your next two thousand one hundred sixty hours exploring tasks and pressures of smiling anticipation ie: January 2014! What a photo op! What a celebration! with thanksgiving!
Keep Looking UP!

Awwww. I understand your terror. Had horrible experience as kid. And adult. I lost several teeth while I was ill and have been saving for implants. I am almost there. Just wish I could wake up all magic like and it would be done but I am shooting for January to start the procedure. I hope my kids and grandkids have it way better but I think dentistry has come a long way. Hoping to see your new smile in 2014.

I will keep you in my prayers also. I hope you don't mind me sharing a funny story about dentures. My Brother had both uppers and lowers done at the same time, a few years back. A few months later he and his wife decided to lay on a blanket outside and watch the stars. Well Dan took out his teeth and layed them down beside himself, on the blanket. When they got ready to go inside he couldn't find his teeth. One of their little dogs had decided to chew on them. So be very careful where you put them, if only for a few minutes. I really do hope the healing goes quickly for you. Can't wait to see your new smile. Hugs,

There are very few people who are not afraid of going to the dentist, including dentist's themselves, according to mine. Good for you for making the decision and moving ahead with it. And no, I'm not going to make any 'funnies' about it ... just sending you BIG BIG hugs and well wishes. Hugs, ~B~

Curt,
Sending all my best wishes and thoughts for you. Three years ago my husband had six upper teeth pulled and went through implants. I know it is not a pleasant experience, but you will be happy once everything is completed.
Hugs, Lisa

Oh Curt I feel you pain and nervousness. Sorry I am a day late with my prayers and thoughts that this goes well for you and that your not in horrid pain. Your right it is now time to take care of you for a change.

Like you bad teeth run in my father's side of the family. I had 8 pulled out a one time (when in my 20's) and now my teeth, though cavity free, just crumble or break off. Like you, I've been trying to get up the nerve to have them all pulled and dentures made.

Take care.

I hope you are doing fine. But January will come soon, just you wait; time would fly fast. Actually, I recently had 3 of my molars extracted by my Austin Dentist and I also had to endure not to tire myself out because of infection. So I have to excuse myself from swimming practice until my dentist says that I'm good to go. I'm willing to wait if it means I can have healthy teeth. So I wish you luck! You can do it!

I can't believe I missed this post, and did not find it until today. I know it's late, but I hope all went well for you. I totally understand and have had my fair share of dental work. Most recently I've had 3 molars break when I was eating a bagel, seafood, and a piece of cake, jish, just can't win.
