THE WEDNESDAY EVENING POST FOR SEPTEMBER 11, 2013

Hey All!

Before I say anything else in this post, I just want to take a moment to acknowledge the special significance of today and remember all of those souls that were lost 12 years ago.  Some of the scenes from that day are forever burned into my memory and I'll never forget.

I hope this post finds you all well and safe.  Summer's end is fast approaching and I'm so getting into the Autumn mode.  It will be evident when you see this post's cards.  Here they are:
Acorns and fiery colored oak leaves are such ambassadors of Fall.  I had forgotten how nice a job Versamark does as a watermark.  The patterned background is done using only Versamark clear embossing ink. The stamp is by Hampton Arts and only has 3 rows of the diamond pattern so I had to use my Stampamajig to line it up all the way across.  The leaves are from a die (I believe Spellbinders) and the acorns stamp is by Inkadinkado.  I fussy cut them out and popped them up along with the leaves using dimensional tape.  I highlighted the acorn tops with a copper pen and the leaves with a Stardust glitter pen along their veins.  The little straps were made by punching out two word windows (StampinUp) and bending them around the card stock.  I then added copper brads to finish them off.  The sentiment stamp is by Hero Arts.
These two were done with the same stamped image but in different ways.  All of the flower heads (Hero Arts) are dotted with Stickles for some sparkle.  I stamped them in various Fall colors using Distress Inks.  Sentiments are Hero Arts.  These were quick and easy to produce.
And what's Autumn without some Halloween????  I think Bonnie will even approve of this one.  When I found this clear set by Inkadinkado at Michael's, this card popped into my head.  I colored them with Bic markers then "painted" the beakers/test tube with Crystal Glaze to give them a glass look.  Added some glitter to each where appropriate and finished the card with my computer created pun sentiment.
My last card was made with such a fun stamped image.  It is by Rubber Stamp Ave.  I've had it for quite some time and thought I could use it for Halloween and for birthday cards ("You can't hide from another birthday!" LOL)  Talk about a quick and easy card.  I created the sentiment in Word using a really spooky font.

Pic of the Week

Curt

I just have to comment on the fabulous flower pic of the week first.
Your cards are really great. I love the acorn card. Fall is the best season of the whole year, in my opinion.
Your lab card is sooooo creative and of course the very last card with the spooky person peeking through the blinds is absolutely stunning (in a spooky way LOL )

Beautiful fall cards, love especially the one with the flowers stamped in fall colors. I am having trouble getting in the fall spirit when it is still 100 outside!!! Love the eyes peeking between the blinds - what a cute stamp and so many uses. Great job this week - so happy to see you back creating.

Autumn cannot get here quickly enough for me! I love your autumn cards, but my favorite is the last one - something wicked this way comes....perfect! It would be awesome as a birthday card! You, sir, are awesome :-)

Hmmm...trying to decide which is my fave, they are all so different so I guess I do not have to pick one...the oak leaf is awesome! And I can only imagine some fun sentiments to go with that last stamp...super super fun!!!

I have such a difficult time adjusting to the word "fall" for autumn, but I guess it is a bit onomatopoetic. We don't have so many deciduous tree's so don't get the colour changes as much or the leaf fall either, unless it is the English trees planted here during the 18th C. Be that as it may, I LOVE your cards. We don't do Holloween either, but your spooky peek a boo card is fabulous and the Lab one just made me laugh. I especially like the spider inside the fist flask! We are heading into Spring, and the spring colours and flowers are out everywhere. Bring on the warm weather I say! Thanks for your chatty blog Kurt - always love to read it!

You've been a busy boy this week ... it's probably the adrenaline from thinking about HALLOWEEN!

Nice to see a classic technique used in the Versamark diamond pattern on your first card. Won't be long before our entire trees begin to look just like those leaves.

Now, I want to know ... from whom does a purple specimen come??? You see ... Halloween is creepy!

And the final card, well it could be me. That's how I look when I see anything Halloween! It reminds me of the TV show, Criminal Minds...not funny.

Hugs to all ~B~

Love the use of the flowers for the 'thank you' and 'get well soon' - very good idea and great card set. My absolute favorite is the 'peeking through the blinds' - fun & creepy spooky - right up my alley!!

Ha! I'm so stoopid!!!!
Flowers were 'get well' and 'happy birthday' - not 'thank you'. Like you say, hope I'm not a witness at a crime scene - heaven knows what I'd see!!!!
Duh -

I look forward to your posts. Your autumn cards are marvelous. And I must admit that the "Man looking through blinds" sent me on a wild Internet search to find that stamp. Thank you for the inspiration.

Hi Curt, Even though we don't celebrate Fall here, I still love those earthy beautiful colours and will never forget the scenery at this time of the year in the US when I was there! So glad to see you are enjoying your card making again. Your cards are lovely.

Yes we remembered the 11th - that day is one we will never ever forget. The day when the world changed forever.

Take care, hugs!

Love you fun cards this week Curt. My fav. is the flowers. We are not much into Halloween here, but love to see the creativity of everyone.
Take care and warm greetings from a very hot part of SA. in the south of the country they are having 'hopefully' the last cold front with snow and all. We will possibly get a bit of a cold blast then back to warm weather. hugs, Ursula
