THE WEDNESDAY EVENING POST FOR SEPTEMBER 4, 2013

Hey All!

Welcome to another edition of the Wednesday Evening Post.  It's always so nice to see you and I so appreciate the time you take to come and take a peek.  Welcome also to September!  I hope all had a great Labor Day and we are now officially coming into the Fall season! YEA!!!!!!  My favorite time of year.

Here are the cards I'd like to share with you today. . .
This is a card I made for my sister who is overworked and under paid.  She worries way too much about her job and it is driving her crazy. This was my way of telling her to take it easy. The card went with a little gift box I put together which included 5 hour energy drinks, some candy, and some Starbucks coffee ice cream.  I'm also entering this into the House Mouse Monday Challenge HERE.  Their theme this time is "Transport". I would think that this would qualify as transport because the inner tube looks like it is taking the little bunny to his happy place!  LOL  This Happy Hopper image is colored as usual with my colored pencils and oms.  I sponged the sky with distress ink.  Added glitter to the waves and cut out sun for a little sparkle.

Speaking of bunnies. . .
This was a joke card for a neighbor/friend of mine from the old neighborhood.  She is constantly complaining that the rabbits are running rampant in her yard and eating everything she plants.  So I made up this card and sent it to her for a laugh.

And speaking of the old neighborhood. . .
I had heard that one of the people I used to cat sit for had lost her father, so I made this sympathy card for her.  The different thing about this card is the ribbon underneath the sentiment.  When I placed the sentiment piece there, there still was too much of an open space underneath it so as a last thought, I cut a piece of ribbon and folded it placing it just under the sentiment strip.  Served the purpose of the blank space and I kind of liked how it looked.  Different than a bow or a big flower. . .

Pic of the Week
I'm sure most of you know what this is. . .Since it is September, we hear the cicadas non-stop August and September.  I thought this a perfect pic for the week.  This of course is the shell they emerge from in the spring.

That's it for this post.  Thanks so much for your wonderful comments.  They mean so much to me and are so appreciated.  Thanks again for all of your support.  You all mean the world to me!

Hugs,

Curt

Those are wonderful. The ribbon on the sympathy card is perfect, a very nice touch. I hope Autumn arrives here very soon. It'll be Halloween before you know it!

Curt
Your mode of transportation is perfect. Your sis will love it.
Joans bunny buffet just cracked me up. In my case it is squirrels but that is my own fault. I feed them. One of them eats from my hand.
What a lovely touch on your sympathy card.
I wouldn't have known what that was in your pic of the week. We don't have cicadas here. :)
Thanks for checking in on me. I have not only been slacking this summer I have been downright slothful. lol

Curt, you do have such a clever way of making your cards personal. I love your mousy card for your sister, but I think the bunny one just 'takes the cake'. A lovely idea with the ribbon on the sympathy card. Thanks so much for sharing your lovely ideas with us. We are so happy here, as Spring has sprung, and looking forward to lovely summer. Take care, hugs Ursula

OK, so you warn about Halloween cards but not about nasty bugs??!! And that cicada IS nasty! I detest any bug bigger than a fruit fly and this certainly qualifies.

Anyway, on to your creations. The ribbon on the sympathy card, you know, will be cased all over the internet now. It was the perfect addition for that card and is very fitting to honour a gentleman.

Bunnies are like mice ... they are adorable until they invade your personal space. I loved bunnies too until they sawed off all of my day lily plants this year. Now they are only cute in statue form.

And of course, the HM ... simply adorable. If nothing else, I'm sure you will bring a smile to your sister's face.

Hugs to all. ~B~

My very first stamp was a House Mouse and that was 6 years ago. I love lots of artist but House Mouse images are still one of my top 5. Great card.! Too funny and cute regarding your rabbit card. I have that image but can't place the artist....that will bug me for the rest of day. Sympathy cards are always the hardest and it was very kind of you to remember your neighbor's father. And, oh yes, our puppies are so scare at night that we have trouble getting them to go outside for their last potty break before bed due to the cicadas....I think they are cool...the bugs that is...haha Great pic!

Lucky sister to receive such a cute card and those goodies too! The second card is a hoot, I'm sure your friend will get a good laugh from it too! Your sympathy card is very elegant and I'm sure your cat sitter will appreciate your thoughtfulness in her time of sorrow. Have a great day, Mary

Oh I love the first card, yes a perfect transport from busy life to a bit of quiet and peace...I hope you sister can do just that !
The second card is so bright and cheery and just too cute...I know it will make that neighbor smile and think of you .

Now the last one, well it is just fabulous, tho a sympathy card it is beautiful... elegant, balanced, the layers add detail without over doing it... and yes that ribbon treatment was exactly the needed addition...

ewe on the pic...I am tired of bugs in general this year... lol

So how are the boys?? I miss seeing them...

Have a quiet and great week...
waving good bye ...and saying thank you...

Good to see you stamping....and love your three cards today. Of course, I am partial to HM and love how you make the water sparkle on the water. He sure does look comfy floating off down the river.....hope your sister gets the idea!! Your other bunny card is so cute. Our resident bunny eats the plants down to nothing too, but still like to see them running around in the yard. And your sympathy card is so nice, the ribbon is just the right touch.
Thanks for joining us for the House Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge, you know we always love to see your cards.

Hugs
Sue

You are so thoughtful to make all these lovely cards for those you care about. I love the card for your sister. Some one should have sent that card to me every week when I was teaching. I love that you put so much care and thought behind your lovely cards. Thank you much for sharing all of that.
Hugs,
Linda

Hi Curt! Wonderful cards, as always! I love the mouse on the inner-tube. That one just speaks to me! The gift you put together sounds perfect - I know I'd be very happy to receive those items!!

I also really like your sympathy card. It's serious, but elegant and attractive. I'm saving that idea to "r&d" (rip off and duplicate)!

Hugs!! Oh, and my best to Jay and the boys!

Another great grouping of cards. I know they will all be well loved. The sympathy card really speaks to me. They are so hard to do. I just might have to CASE yours.

Oh how nice/cute are the 3 cards this week, especially love the bunny card - I am sure your neighbor will get a chuckle from that. Good idea on the sympathy card too - I cover up a lot of OOPS with embellishments.

Your sympathy card is lovely. I really like the black ribbon. Sure got a chuckle out of your "bunny buffet" as I have had several rabbits (and a woodchuck) snacking around here this summer. Also hope that the sweet card and gift box perked your sister up. nise

The HM card and image are super cute. Your sister will be so pleased with your thoughtfulness. I'm sure the bunny that is eating the plants is just as cute as the one on your card. The ribbon looks perfect on the Sympathy card. Enjoy your week.

How did Wednesday get past me? I nearly missed your post. Glad I decided to come check on you. So, you know that I love it when you color the HM images! I remember that your being on their DT, was my introduction to these wonderful critters! The sympathy card is lovely, and I'm sure it will be appreciated. And the bunny card gave me a great giggle! Good job, dear friend....until I saw that icky bug! Ewww..... Hope your weekend is going well! Take care, and I'll try to get here on time next week :-)
