THE WEDNESDAY EVENING POST FOR AUGUST 29, 2013

Hey All!

Sorry that I'm late with this post. . .what is the saying. . ."A day late and a dollar short."?  I'm usually both.  But here I am and I do have cards to show.

I have to give a warning (Bonnie), this post does contain a Halloween card, the first of the season for me!  So let's start with that one shall we????

I got the idea for this card HERE.  The card that was the inspiration was done in Halloween colors and screamed to be done for Halloween.  The coffee cup is from Gina K. Designs which I fussy cut out with an exacto knife.  The saucer was paper pieced and the skull/cross bones was a small dollar stamp.  You can't see it in the photo well, but I added steam rising from the cup by embossing it with silver tinsel embossing powder for a nice sparkly steam.  If you click on the photo you'll see it much better.  The harlequin background paper is from My Mind's Eye (Mischievous) and I created the paper behind the cup with a Stampabilities script background stamp and then "dirtied" it up with some distress ink.  The cup is set up with dimensional tape.
Can you tell I'm gearing up for Fall???  This card in my version of Gina Ks video of a card she made.  I used to have a favorite show where these interior designers would show a decorated room like in a mansion that cost thousands of dollars and then recreate it on a budget of $1,000.  I LOVED that show.  Well this card reminds me of that.  I duplicated Gina's card from her video HERE using what stamps and paper I had on hand to come up with the same look.  How'd I do?
This card was totally inspired by the seahorse.  This was a stamp in the wooden set that also had the ship stamp that I showed you a couple of weeks ago.  The plant life are stamps from Inque, and the shell stamps are in that same set as the ship/seahorse.  I created the panel by blending different shades of blue distress inks then spritzing it with water.  After it dried I stamped the images to create the scene.  I fussy cut out the shells and placed them in a cluster and added turquoise glitter to them for some sparkle as well as to the main sea weed image.

Pic of the Week
Well, that's it for this post.  Hope this finds all of you well and happy.  I'm sorry that my week got away from me and I didn't get to all of your blogs as I had hoped, but I'll be there soon.  I always love the inspiration I get from all of you.

Hugs,

Curt

Yeah, it's Halloween time, and I just love this card! Everything about it. And I always love cards with anything about the sea, and your seahorse is wonderful. Your flowers are nice too, love Gina K!
Picture of the week is great. Have seen a lot of birds this year, especially just out of town, a lot of hawks. Hope your keeping well.

All cards are fabulous...love the clean and simple, yet bold of the Halloween...all wrapped up into one. I think I have that stamp for card 2 and love the textures and colors. I go to the YMCA every morning and while on the elliptical I watch that show on Tuesday...I thought I was watching new episodes....hummm...maybe they are reruns I never say. I love that show too. I'm such a "diehard" beach/water, coast person so it was instant love for your 3 card. I've been away for a summer break, so very little card making for me the past 3 weeks...time to get my mojo back.

Well, I knew it was only a matter of time before the dreaded "H" cards started to appear but you are actually late to begin Curt...I started to see them earlier this month. That's right people ... early in August!!!! Really? Halloween in the middle of summer??? Anyway, despite my 'opinion', your card is actually adorable ....love the 'steam'.

Your fall card is very soothing. Love the colours of Fall and you have captured them perfectly with this card. You are definitely a Gina K protégé.

And of course your sea life card is very attractive. You sure have patience to fussy cuts those shells.

Hugs to all...B

Hi Curt! Thanks for stopping by my blog and for your lovely comment! I like all 3 cards you've made but I especially like the last 2. I'm not into Hallowe'en so much so don't bother making cards for it although I'm sure my 3 granddaughters would love it if I did. I do shell out and even wear a mask and the looks on the little ones faces are priceless! The older children think it's cool that hubby and I shell out wearing a mask!

Hey Curt! so nice to hear from you, thanks for your comments but I think you seem to be the master on distress inks, your efforts here are gorgeous And your pic of the week is simply stunning! I am sorry I've not visited for a while, I am appalling bad at updating my own blog let alone checking out my friends blogs on a regular basis. However, that is no excuse, I will check on you more often, promise! I really hope you guys are keeping well.
Take care
