SPECIAL EDITION OF THE WEDNESDAY EVENING POST ON FRIDAY 4/26/2013

Hey All!

Welcome to a Special Edition of The Wednesday Evening Post (even though it is on Friday!).  Today, I'm celebrating my 5 year anniversary of starting this blog and my very first post.  If you'll look over to your right, you'll see the huge anniversary cake there on the table and to the left is a completely stocked open bar for your enjoyment while you are here.  Servers will be walking around with a variety of hors d'oeuvres, so please help yourself.  Don't forget the GREAT GIVE-AWAY!!!!  More info on that at the bottom of this post.

I'm so glad you came!  5 years. . .I can hardly believe it.  For a stroll down memory lane for those of you who would like to see. . .here is the link to my very first post and my very first cards HERE.  I had 3 comments and remember that I had no idea how they even found me! I was amazed and hooked from that moment on and the rest is history.  Here are my cards for tonight:

I haven't used this stamp in ages!  I LOVE this little guy.  We had a break-in here in our neighborhood this week!!  It was a house about 3 doors down from us and it is the home of a very cute, young couple.  They found their door kicked in and their house ransacked and robbed.  I just felt sick for them and wanted them to know how sorry I was that this had happened.  So, I made this card for them and went to a local bakery and got them some yummy cupcakes to make them smile.  The image was colored with my colored pencils and odorless mineral spirits.  The sentiment was from "Gunther's Greetings" which was a stamp set designed after my own sweet Gunther!

Next card. . .
Are those bee faces the cutest or what???  LOL  I used baker's twine for the "bee trails" but all I had was black and white so I colored the white part with a yellow marker.  Their little wings are all Stickled up and I fussy cut them out and popped them up on dimensional tape.  The bee stamp is by Recolections and I colored them with marker.

OK, now for the promised give-away in honor of my 5 year anniversary. . .Here is the prize package:
1 Set of Spectrum Noir Markers in browns and greys
1 Stampabilities House Mouse/Happy Hopper wood mounted rubber stamp (Snuggle Bunny)
1 Spellbinders Nestabilities Big Scalloped Squares (7 dies)
1 All Occasion Mat Stack with Glitter (44 sheets of 4.5X6.5)
1 Memory Box die (Resting Birds)
3 packs of assorted bling

Nice huh?  As you know I don't make you jump through hoops to win any prizes here.  All you need do is leave me a comment on this post.  I'll use Random.Org to pick a winner from all the comments, and I will announce the winner on the May 8th Edition of My Wednesday Evening Post.  Good Luck!

Pic of the Week
My sweet Gunther celebrated his 9th birthday on the 24th!  He got a birthday cake, a trip to the "doggie store" to pick out his presents, and lots of treats.

Hope you are all well.  Thanks for stopping by and I'll be seeing all of you on your blogs!

Hugs,

Curt

Happy 5 year Anniversary! Your style has changed over the years and you are better than ever! I love that first card with the puppy, I know it will make them smile. I don't know why people can't keep their hands to themselves. What is wrong with people?? Anyway, please don't enter me into the drawing, because I have almost everything but the stamp (yes, I have too much stuff!). Happy Birthday to Gunther - he's adorable in his birthday hat!

Congratulations. I am so glad those three folks found you five years ago.

I do not recall who directed me to your blog, but it was from someone else's blog. Could well have been one of those original three. What ever it was said on the blog, it provoked me to visit that day. And I have fairly consistantly kept pace with you through thick and thin.

Keep Calm and ...make another card!

Happy 5th Boggerversary, Curt and Happy 9th Birthday, Gunther!

The doggie image and card are super cute. How awful for your neighbors. At least no one was hurt.

How creative to use the baker's twine (and color it) on the bee card.

Thanks for the cake and cocktails!

Happy Birthday to Gunter, handsome fellow that he is in his hat.
Your cards are perfect as usual. I will go over your years tomorrow when I have a chunk of time to really look at them.
Keep up the good work.
So sorry for your neighbors. It must be horrible to have that happen.

Happy anniversary to you, my dear sweet friend! I'll bet that your neighbors were touched by your kindness, and so glad that you and your family moved into their neighborhood. How awful for them to be burgled. Your cards are delightful. And thank you for the cake and punch. I am really glad that you spiked the punch - it was delish! Take care of yourself and your lovely family. Sue from KS

Well, congrats to you....I had to take a peek back in memory lane at some of your first blog posts...and you did amazing work, even way back then!! These too cards are great...love the dog one, and the bee one is so creative with the twine...that's too bad about the neighbors...I worry about that here all the time...they can take all they want, but it scares me about if they would hurt Nellie!! And thanks for the birthday treats on your blog...I think I gained 5 pounds just reading about it...LOL...have a happy blog birthday!! OH...and loved seeing Gunther in his "birthday" suit!!!!

Oh My WORD!!!! Just LOOK at the face on that adorable doggie. It is such a sweet card for such a terrible act upon your neighbors.
These cards on your first blog are amazing and what gets me is that your first cards and blog were just as great as they are now....makes me a little jealous. My first cards till now have definitely evolved...but it's fun to see the growth. Hummm....glad I went to your first one here because I see several I would love to case...they are CAS and elegant all at the same time.
Now....a big happy birthday to Gunther. You know I'm such a sucker for head ornaments for your puppies.....yup....babies and puppies are what they will always be.
I was saying..."where the heck did he get that twine?" haha...how totally clever. Sometimes half the fun is learning to improvise.

Carolina Girl (Cely) said...

PS...after my long comment I never said a big congratulations on 5 years. Now you can erase this comment so I'm not on twice....that would be cheating...haha But...wonderful blog candy! You have given me a great idea!

Honestly, I can't get over what a nice guy you are! Who would ever think to do something nice like that for neighbors whose house was broken into. You are one of the most thoughtful people I know. I've followed your blog for almost 4 years and just love coming to visit. I hope you have many more years of blogging. And that is a selfish wish, because your blogs bring such good things to me as a reader. Millie, VT

Congrat's on five years! How wonderful.

So sorry for your neighbors, I was afraid you were going to say your house and I was instantly worried about your stamps, for shame! lol.

Love the two cards, the puppy is adorable and I'm sure it will cheer them up and the cute busy bee's are fun.

A very happy blogaversary to you! I hope we will both still be blogging in the next 5 years, I love coming to visit you each week and seeing the lovely and thoughtful cards you make.

sorry to hear about the neighbours being broken into, one of our neighbours was held up at home about a week ago and with the crime rate so high over here in South Africa, the only comment most people have is: thank goodness they are OK and nobody was hurt, raped or killed. It scares me to think that we need to be grateful for that and we are not shocked and outraged at what happened.
Hugs from a cold South Africa
