Winner of Blog Candy, News of the DT, and Some Cards to Share

Hey All! Happy Hump Day! Hope you all are having a wonderful week so far! Let me get some not so good news out of the way right off the bat. The House Mouse Monday Challenge made their decision for their design team members, and I was not selected. They even added a surprise extra position, but they did not select me. I have to admit that I am super disappointed and was really depressed about it last night, but hey what the hell! You can't win 'em all. . .I do though appreciate all the kind things you all said about what I submitted and how supportive you all were. How can I say I lost when I have such support from all of you. Thank you so much. They did choose another good blogging buddy of mine, Jami of http://sgtstamper.com/blog/. I am so happy for her! Congrats Jami - Im very proud of you!

So on with better news! We have a winner in my blog candy give-away. There were almost 70 entries which I entered onto Random.org. Hit the button and the winner is Cheryl of Cheryl's Stamping Corner! I have already notified her of the win. Congratulations Cheryl, the package is on the way! I listed the top 10 below as they came out on the list. Thanks to everyone who entered, and a ton of thanks to all of you who contributed cards to Pat's cause. It is my understanding that she had way over 3,100 cards and ended up giving some to another hospital! You all did a wonderful job!

OK, a couple of cards to share. The first is a card I sent to my good blogging friend Karen's dog Layla. Karen was sweet enough (or shall I say Layla) to send "my boys" a wonderful Christmas card. So, I (the boys) sent Layla not only the Valentine card below, but I enclosed a hand stamped paw print bandanna that I made for her. Here is the card:

I forget what this type of a card is called, but look below at the picture of it opened:

Karen sent one like this to "the boys" at Christmas, and I loved the card design. See the sentiment says "Yappy Valentine's Day"? LOL The sentiment is computer generated. I stamped the bone frame on the two black panels and then embossed them with white ep. The dog is my "altered" stamp from I believe "Inkadinkado" (as well as the bones). This time I drew in some eye brows to make him look even more like a Giant Schnauzer. Added some ribbon, brads, and bling and done. I even added a bone shaped paper clip at the top left corner which holds the little ribbon. Karen, you will probably see this before it arrives, so don't tell Layla! LOL

My next card is an anniversary card I made to send to a really nice person. This is one of those cards that started one way and ended up totally different. It turned out with a Art Deco style. Here it is:

It did not photograph well, because it has a lot of shiny copper. I stamped the flower image twice, once in black ink on the copper paper and once on black paper in black and then embossed both with copper ep and black ep. I used a 1 inch square punch to do the "notches" where I added the copper square brads. The dots on the flower petals don't look like they are all the same color, but they are. It's just that the light hit some of them and reflected light make them look different. I mounted the flower onto the card with a foam square. The ribbon is shiny copper too.

Couple of final things:

1. If you scroll down, you will see that I have added a video of a very young girl. I found this really fun/cool website called sing snap (http://www.singsnap.com/). It is where you can go and record yourself singing karaoke style and then post your performance for all to see. I was dying laughing at some of these poor souls, but then I found this little girl who just blew me away. Be sure to click on the play button and give her a listen. The last half of her video will blow you away. She will give you goose bumps.

2. The picture of the week is of a weird plant that I photographed this week in a park where I was walking the boys. I have never seen anything like it. It looks to me like something from a different planet. If anyone knows what it is, would you let me know?

Thanks again for coming by! After being rejected (sobbing) LOL your comments mean more than ever. I appreciate you guys so much!

Best,

Curt

Curt, they're crazy not to have chosen you! Not many people have as much enthusiasm as you do for certain products, and the work you've done with their images has been fabulous. They don't know talent when they see it!

Love the doggie card! Too cute! Layla will love it!

Wow--I can't believe you're not the captain of their design team. I just assumed you'd make it after seeing your submissions. Maybe you intimidated them. Oh well, you still have your adoring public.

Hey - you know there are a million reasons why people aren't chosen for DT's - there are 0nly so many spots and lots of applicants - it doesn't mean you aren't good - there were just too many good people applying! keep trying Curt - you'll get there!

Love your two cards - the dog one is adorable - love the black and red - and the flower is just super!

So sorry to hear about the DT spot. I was soooo rooting for you...their loss! We all LOVE your cards and projects, so we will just keep you for ourselves!!

The card for Layla is so awesome. I can't wait for her to get it. When I was at the store today, I looked at that very set and almost bought it... I thought it would make an awesome step card.

Your other card is just fabulous. I really, really love it. The color/combo is stunning. The flower is a beautiful focal point and such pretty detail with the brads and ribbon.

Take care
Hugs

Sorry you didn't make the team, not that you creations are great, don't get too down over it. I'm sure the people who chose just had a personal preference to style and I guess yours just didn't match up at the time. You creations are always super wondering.

Your doggie card is just absolutely out of this world!!

I'm sorry you didn't make the design team. You certainly would have been my pick but you need to keep trying out for DT's 'cause your cards are always just fab.

Your pic of the week -- that's some wierd looking plant!

Oh Curt I'm sorry you didn't get picked for the DT... THIS time!! Keep on trying. With your creative talent it is just a matter of time before it happens. Your cards today are wonderful. That doggie card is darling. The copper card is very cool. I made a couple of copper cards and was afraid to send them to anyone due to the very sharp edges that the cut copper ended up having. Did you have that, too? Just wondering if I did something wrong or if there is something I forgot to do like sanding them down or whatever. I listened to the young girl.. WOWZA! American Idol step aside!

Oh hon - I'm so sorry they didn't choose you. But know what? It just means you'll be available when a better opportunity comes along. Everything you do is great - so you just keep on keepin' on. We all love you!!!

I hate that you didn't make the DT this go round...It defintiely makes me heart sad:o( I hope you will try again because your HM, HH and Gruffies cards are second to none!!!! I hope you know that I am one of your BIGGEST fans...and I don't mean in weight;o) Could be though:o) Please don't let this get you down.

As for the cards you showcase on this post, they are exceptional!!! You know how much I love your altered Schnauzer stamp!!! I love it A LOT!!! The eyebrows are a nice touch:o) Layla is going to love it!!! I know she will also enjoy wearing the bandana you made especially for her!!!

Now, the 'art deco' card is a showstopper!!! It took my breath away!!! I love the copper against the black...exquisite!!! You make the most elegant creations!!!

Now, I am going to hear the little songbird:o)

Hugs!
Carolyn

You make super cards.

Oh wow the doggie card is just awesome! I'm sure the dog will love it LOL ;)
Sorry about the DT position, but there are so many reason why or why not one might or might not get chosen, don't despair, if there is an opening again, just re-apply! You know your stuff is good, they probably do too! it may not have been the right fit at the moment.

Don't be disheartened Curt.

Know this - your work is fabulous!!!

Think of it this way, as one door closes another door opens. There will be plenty more opportunities for you - of that I'm sure!

Hi Curt! I've been following your blog for some time now and your work is outstanding. I understand your disappointment in the DT as I too had really set my hopes on being chosen too. It was quite a letdown, but we go on and continue to create what we love.

I love the Valentine your pups sent out. EXCELLENT. I have three Newfoundland dogs and they are known to send card frequently. :)

Your cards are outstanding and I thoroughly enjoy visiting your blog. I am confident too that if you apply to the HM&F DT in the future you'll hold a place of honor on the team.

Thank you so much for the kind comment you left on my blog. It means the world to me!

Cheers!

Your cards this post are all awesome, you rock!!

And that little girl is AMAZING. What a voice - she is set for stardom one day - watch out American Idol 2014!!! yes, it did send shivers down my back listening to her - what a voice!!

Hi Curt!! So sorry they didn't select you!! Their loss.. Your work is fabulous and these cards are no exception!! Love the new pic of the dogs too.
Hope you are well and that you have a great weekend.

Well, Curt, there are two things in life I truly believe. When someone doesn't pick someone else, they might not have been happy being picked. I feel bad you weren't picked. I would have picked you for sure. Second, one only fails if one doesn't try. Hugs to you on your success.

The card for the dog is adorable and I bet the scarf was a work of art~ The second card is a really beautiful Art Deco with a male and sophistocated flair.

That girl's voice is jsut stunning and she is either a wonderful actress or has experienced some really mature life emotions early in life. She is incredible. Thank you for sharing.

Now for that weird plant. The poor thing is kind of ugly! I have to know what it is and so I will let you know if I find an answer.

Thanks for the visit and hugs to you and yours!
