How the heck are ya???? Hope you all are in the middle of a wonderful week. I know it will be a little better for one of you, because I have a winner of my blog candy to announce. Now, I was going to make you wait until the end of the post, but who the hell am I kidding? You'd scroll right past everything to the bottom to see if your name is there. A couple of weeks ago, Splitcoast Stampers had their weekly project. It was a quilt card. I'm not a quilter, but the lady across the street who always looks after us (last big snow she called and said she had an extra rotisserie chicken in case we needed it!) is a great sewer and has a beautiful quilt hanging in one of the rooms in her house. So, I decided that was reason enough to make her a note card set. Here are the pics:
I thought that these would be difficult, but they were pretty easy once you got a system going. To make the patterns easier to place, I cut a square the size of the finished "quilt" (4" X 4"). I then covered the square in a tight grid of strong tape. Once that was ready, I slid the square into the left hand corner of my Score Pal. Then starting at the top, placed each piece based on the pattern I was following. If you go to the quilt card tutorial HERE, they supply you with a website with tons of different quilt patterns. I really had a blast making these though it got tedious by the box lid quilt! LOL My neck was getting stiff. All the squares are 1". Since this is a "note card" set, I did not use sentiments, plus I didn't want sentiments to detract from the pattern. Hope you enjoyed these and try one or two.
I have just a couple other quick cards I wanted to share. . .
The last card was a combo attempt at "clean and simple" and a "man" card. . .

I want it to be fun and interesting and hopefully I've shared something that inspires you or I've shown you a new technique that you would like to try. ReplyDeleteCurt, those quilt cards are stunning! And yes, the man card is very manly -love the folded ribbon aspect of it - very smart. I really enjoy reading your blog, as it reminds me that there are good people out there who care for their neighbours and fellow humans - there is so much negative stuff on radio and TV these days one can forget that. Keep warm and love that photo of the snowy feeder - our weather has been a bit cold and autumnal, despite it only being February!

Oh my....I'm scrolling through your quilt cards with my mouth open Curt. These are absolutely fabulous. I'm gobsmacked. From one who used to quilt and do patchwork, I reckon you wouldn't have a problem if you decided to take it up as an extra hobby.

Loss is such a horrible thing but to be remembered by a friend with a hand crafted card, somehow makes things better for the moment.

OH Curt! Your quilting cards are fabulous! You've certainly inspired me to give them a try. Back when I first started scrapping I picked up a how to book on making scrapbook pages look like quilting. I've made a few quilt tops in my life, however, only one got completed as a full quilt. Ok enough blabbing... I love your sympathy card I found a clear stamp similar to that, so I'm so glad to see how you used it. Your manly card is fantastic as well! Always happy to stop here as I get so much inspiration! Where to start? The quilt cards are outstanding and so pretty. The sympathy card is so precious and special too. The simple is wonderful and that picture of the snow covered bird feed is real beauty in its own way. I think Spring may be on the way here in southern NC.
